Mid-Week Skiing with Gary Schorr

skiing The 2024-25 ski season has started with several ski resorts in NY open for business. Those retired or able to take time off from work will enjoy midweek trips to our local ski areas when the crowds are much smaller. We normally carpool to several areas upstate including Hunter, Windham, Belleayre, and Catamount. Those wishing to carpool meet at 6am in Christopher Morley Park, just off exit 36 of the LIE. Email Gary at gss12@optonline.net to receive weekly notices of these mid-week ski day trips.

    Mid-Week Biking with Neal Pisanti

bicycling The 2024 bicycling season has concluded, but we look forward to the 2025 season. We had several good rides in 2024 to places such as the wineries, Jones Beach, and the Pine Barrens. Our members meet mid-week for trips that are usually range from 10 to 30 miles. Most rides are announced by e-mail on Sunday night for the following Wednesday or an alternate day, weather permitting.**Helmets are required, and water or another hydration source strongly recommended.** Also, riders should carry a spare inner tube and any tools needed to change a flat tire. Sometimes we meet afterwards for lunch, or perhaps for a glass of wine at a winery. Come ride with us. No one will be left behind. E-mail Neal at nealmichael@hotmail.com . It is important that riders follow safety protocols, such as signaling turns, calling out hazards, approaching cars, etc. Refer to the following League of American Bicyclists (LAB) website for the following safety tips: LAB Safety Tips
